Day 2, Chapter 2: The Wedding at Cana

Now here’s a memorable story: Jesus turns water into wine. But has it ever struck you as kind of an odd miracle? I mean, Jesus is known for healing the sick and the lame and for driving out demons. But did He really get his start performing “social miracles” like this? It’s a bit like watching a “Before They Were Stars” special. So, why is this story important?

Jesus took ordinary water, and made it extraordinary wine. Jesus took something that was ordinary and made it EXTRA-ordinary. That’s what He does all the time. He took ordinary Saul and made him EXTRA-ordinary Paul. He took ordinary Simon and made him EXTRA-ordinary Peter. Jesus specializes in using ordinary people who trust Him and He does EXTRA-ordinary things through them.

How about you? Do you feel you are just ordinary? That’s great! Just give yourself to Jesus and He will do the miracle to you and through you. He is simply looking for people who will trust Him.

Prayer

Father, just as You turned water into wine, I ask You to bring transformation into the ordinary areas of my life. Where I have run dry, fill me with Your Spirit again. I surrender my timing and expectations to You—let Your glory be revealed in my waiting. Help me to trust that You are still working behind the scenes even when I cannot see the miracle forming. Turn my emptiness into overflow, and may my life point others to Your power and faithfulness. Amen.
