Day 15: Pray for Marriages and Families

We’ve reached our third and final week of this journey. For the next seven days, we are going to turn our attention outward and pray for specific groups of people.

As you know, we live in a culture that teaches self-reliance - that we can and should be able to do everything on our own. But that is simply a lie. The truth is, if we wants to be healthy and successful, we must surrender their lives to God and let Him lead. The same goes for marriages. We simply cannot have a marriage the way God designed and enjoy all the wonderful benefits without Him being at the center.

A marriage without God will always have unfulfilled expectations, as our spouse (and kids) simply cannot fulfill all of our needs. So let’s pray that God gets back into our homes. Pray that if couples don’t know Jesus, they would be drawn to Him and to His church. Pray that they would desire to be godly role models for their kids and that they would teach what it means to be a true follower of Christ. Pray that the Sabbath would be a priority, and that they would lean on God for His leading in their lives, marriages and families. “May God Himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together—spirit, soul, and body—and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ,” (1 Thessalonians 5:23).

Prayer: Lord, we pray that marriages would hunger and thirst for You. We pray that marriages would seek You with all of their heart and trust in You for direction. May You protect our kids, and those who may not have a voice or control over their lives. Protect our families from the evil one, and may You bless all those who make You the center of their lives and homes. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
